Manarola is located in Italy and belongs to the province of La Spezia.

It is in a region called Cinque Terre, because there are 5 very beautiful and characteristic village, on hills by the sea, they are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and RioMaggiore.

This region of the Italian Riviera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We only went to two, Riomaggiore and Manarola.

Manarola is undoubtedly the most beautiful. is a very welcoming and cozy land, with houses very colorful and superimposed on each other. It stands on a hill by the sea and is embraced by vineyards, with paths between them, that people can walk through.

Manarola - Italy

The Cinque Terre are connected by rails and by a train, so one can gp from village to village (the price of the train is about 10 euros per person, daily ticket).

It is also possible to catch tourist boats in the “marina” and there is a boat with defined hours that transports the people, from Manarola to Riomaggiore ..

For hiking lovers, the paths between the various villages are undoubtedly worth a visit, it is rare to have such sites, vineyards on one side and the sea on the other, it is very beautiful indeed.

You can go to a restaurant to have a pizza, or just take a walk in the middle of the alleys or through the vineyards. Manarola and Riomaggiore have small rocky beaches that in summer are full with tourists.

For those traveling by car, the land has a small car park (paid) and motorhomes are not allowed in the park.

As we visited Manarola by motorhome we had to find a solution and parked in a park in Gropo, a village up on the mountain, close to Manarola.

There is a small bus that goes from Gropo to Manarola, but as we did not know the timetables, we decided to walk and follow the signs to “Manarola”.

The route escapes the dangers of the road and takes 30 min.

The best time to visit the region is in the spring and summer. As it is becoming a very popular tourist destination, the prices of both the restaurants and the tourist accomodation are high. For those who are not adept at spending a lot of money, you can always prepare a snack, drink water from various sources, or simply buy some slices of pizza and eat by the sea, with incredible views.

In all the villages there are accommodation and you should book a few days in advance.

To spend the night in a motorhome:

It’s complicated, there are only two possible places close to Manarola and the two involve a 15min walk, it’s just for an overnight stay and the floor is a bit uneven. Here are the coordinates: 44 ° 06’20.2 “N 9 ° 44’11.3” E44 ° 06’50.8 “N 9 ° 44’12.8” E
